Chiropractic was founded in 1895 by Daniel David Palmer. In the years that followed Chiropractic grew and was exported all over the world.
In Italy there are different Associations that protect and help the Chiropractic profession. Among them the most prominent is the Italian Chiropractor's Association (A.I.C.) that represents the Chiropractors working in Italy.
A.I.C. was founded in 1974 with the scope of legalizing and promoting the profession in Italy.
In absence of a law for Chiropractic the association works:

• as Order of Chiropractors, (kind of General Council) protecting the citizen about the work of the chiropractic profession and certifying that the members have obtained a degree from a college recognized by the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) and the European Council on Chiropractic Education (ECCE)
• as defender and protection for the Chiropractic profession and its members toward those that could act as chiropractors without having the necessary qualification.

The Association has always insisted in obtaining a law for the Chiropractic profession to prevent abuse by non qualified people.
